About Us

KHEDA is an all-embracing organization composed of all persons interested in development of Bunyoro Kitara Region and Uganda irrespective of tribe, religion, colour and political affiliation. It aims at spearheading Kitara’s social economic and moral transformation through unity in diversity, fostering a strong sense of belonging and a spirit of excellence. Our strength is in our respected culture and embedded in our traditional/cultural leaders led by HRH Rukirabasaija Agutamba Omukama Iguru I. Bunyoro Kitara is one of the most historically known and respected kingdoms in Africa, its historic siege by colonialists not with standing. It is an institution flowing/supposed to flow in the blood of all Banyoro. The significant importance of the kingdom is that it defines all of us and it is an institution through which all the Banyoro in the region and in the Diaspora can be galvanized and mobilized for common objectives.

Bunyoro Kitara’s Resources:

Human Resource

A rudimentary survey shows that Bunyoro has close to 5,000 professionals scattered in the various towns in Uganda and in the Diaspora. These include lawyers, Accountants, Doctors, Economist, educationalists, agriculturalists, scientists, academics, et cetera.  But do we all know them?  Do we network?  Can the young ones fit in? Are we producing these professional at the same rate as before?  There is need to have a data base ad networking system so that we can help each other and our people.  Unless we do that, we shall disappear within this global village.

Natural Resources:

As already alluded to above, Bunyoro’s natural resources are enormous.  Our contribution to the national coffers can be ascertained but KHEDA is convinced it’s more than we imagine. Bunyoro Kitara land is the most productive in Uganda with two agricultural rainy seasons facilitating it. Our produce, timber, tobacco, fish and now oil and gas cannot be ignored.

Does the region have a policy for the exploitation of these resources or even benefitting from these resources?
Are our sons the elites holed up in Kampala participating or spectators – can they unite and help our poverty ridden communities to improve their lot?
The solution for Bunyoro lies in all stakeholders coming together to work for one common objective of our region. We present KHEDA a non political platform that networks with existing institutions and structures – as possible entry point to unity in Bunyoro Kitara.
