The objectives for which KHEDA was established are:
To spearhead Kitara’s socio-economic and moral transformation through: Unity in diversity; Fostering a strong sense of belonging and a spirit of excellence; Social and economic liberation; Leadership capacity development and Cultural and moral vision development.
Create a platform where all “Banyoro” including those in the Diaspora can discuss issues affecting Kitara’s development.
Create a strong sense of belonging through learning of the Runyakitara language while, influencing Kitara’s moral vision, strengthening positive cultural values, and promoting a spirit of excellence such that all will be proud to be called Banyoro.
In the spirit of excellence, to carry out research and documentation of the history, trends, culture, economic, political and other relevant data in line with Kitara’s development.
Encourage, develop, and promote programs and strategies for Kitara’s economic development.
To promote, co-ordinate, establish, maintain, organise and protect any interests of all Banyoro and in particular foster unity and promote the welfare of Banyoro communities.
To collect and disseminate statistical and other information relating to Bunyoro Kitara.
To provide facilities for the study of, inquiry and research into Bunyoro matters and other related matters and to make known thereof through publication of copyrights and production of books, pamphlets, films, posters, periodicals and journals and in such other manner as may be thought fit.
KHEDA’s Planned and On-going Activities:
Kitara Heritage Development Agency (KHEDA) is undertaking a number of activities including but not limited to: Establishing a Data Base of who is who in Bunyoro and resource persons in the areas of economics, urban and rural planning, agriculture, education, land management and utilisation of our culture for developing our communities.
Identifying existing institutions and organizations involved in mobilization and development of the people of Bunyoro Kitara and other stakeholders/partners. Commence platforms e.g. seminars, workshops, radio talk shows, etc… to discuss urgent pertinent issues concerning the development of Bunyoro.
Conduct research; publish informative and educative articles in the print media reflecting the position, potential and opportunities for Bunyoro.
Mobilize the young people especially those in higher institutions of learning to participate in research and other development activities in Bunyoro.
Initiate a lobbying strategy to cater for the strategic interests of Bunyoro Kitara.
Establish an information management system and website to capture, document and disseminate the current vital information that stakeholders and partners require in order to support our development strategies.
Establishing resource/information centres that avail vital information to leaders both community, political, cultural and those from the Civil Society Organisations to be informed on issues covering a variety of key subjects of interest to the development of Bunyoro Kitara.
