The Scholarship Fund

Kitara Heritage Development Agency (KHEDA) started a Scholarship Fund Project with an aim of improving accessibility to higher education in Bunyoro. This was after KHEDA membership had noted that the education level of Bunyoro as a region had lagged behind other regions.

The Scholarship Fund Project Commenced with the academic year 2008/09 where by seven(7) students are currently supported through the the scholarship fund. They are presently pursuing science based courses in Makerere and Kyambogo Universities. Two other students have been supported on a one off; they include one in Butabika Nurses Training and another taking an external degree in electrical engineering in Algeria.

KHEDA's target is to have a progressive increase of at at least five to ten studens benefiting from the scholarship fund every academic year. The overall responsibility of managing the scholarship fund is with the Governing Board of KHEDA; however a Board of Trustees has been put in place to oversee implementation. Criteria for Selection:

Students who have qualified and are admitted to pursue University Education in science related courses and on verification by the KHEDA Scholarship selection committees are proven to have no support/or not being able to continue with their education due to failure to raise the necessary resources to meet tuition and other related costs.

Conditions of support:

Support to successful beneficiaries will last until the completion of the courses offered at the University, only students taking their first degree will be supported.

The support may begin at any time during the duration of the course either at the beginning of the course and or in the middle depending on the identified need of the beneficiary.

Source of Funding

The Project is currently sponsored by Heritage Oil and Gas and supported by various KHEDA members in the development of Bunyoro.
